The Ancient Crosses & Inscribed Stones
of
Devon
The Ancient Crosses of Devon can be divided into Moorland, Wayside and Church Crosses.
There are also some more modern stone and metal crosses worthy of note.
Many War Memorials from the Great War have finely carved crosses.
The Inscribed stones of Devon include memorial stones with a Latin or Saxon script.
Ogham script may also been found on some rare stones.
Other stones may show intricate carvings.
This website contains photographs that have been taken over the last few years.

Most of these crosses are accessible but a few are on private land and permission should be sought prior to visiting. Devon is quite a large county so it may take some time and planning if you are considering making your own journey.
